Nutrition Education Program
Regional Nutrition Workshops
The Worcester County
Food Bank’s Nutrition Education Program offers regional nutrition
workshops. One topic is presented four times throughout the year,
once in each geographical quadrant of Worcester County.
This year’s topic is
“Exploring MyPyramid”. MyPyramid replaces the older Food
Guide Pyramid from USDA. MyPyramid is based on
the most recent Dietary Guidelines for Americans 2005
from the Department of Health and Human Services and USDA. The
Dietary Guidelines form the basis for federal nutrition policy and
establish standards for government nutrition assistance programs.
MyPyramid is the interactive tool which individuals can use
to develop their own eating and exercise plans.
www.MyPyramid.gov is the user-friendly website (also available
in Spanish) and there is a kid’s website for parents and children to
use.
We invite partner
agency staff, volunteers, and program participants to attend these
workshops. Please feel free to attend the workshop in whichever
Quadrant is convenient for you. Check for workshop dates in the
Partner Section of this website.
Workshops at
the Food Bank
In addition to
regional workshops, nutrition and food safety workshops are held
throughout the year at the Food Bank’s Nutrition Education Center.
Recent topics have included “Nutrition in Recovery” and the ServSafe
Food Protection Manager Certification Course.
